FAQ
Your questions, answered.
The most asked questions about hair and scalp in Turkey, and what people want to know about prebiotic shampoo.
How many hairs a day is it normal to lose?
+
Hair renews itself constantly; losing some strands every day is a natural part of the hair cycle. The number can rise when the seasons change. If you see a small white bulb at the end of a shed strand, it is usually a hair that has simply completed its cycle.
Why does hair fall out more in autumn?
+
Hair follows a yearly cycle. In a 6-year study of 823 women, the share of hairs in the shedding phase peaked in summer; those strands then fall out in the following weeks, in autumn. Seasonal shedding is usually temporary.
Can switching shampoo make your hair fall out?
+
Shedding is a process that starts at the root weeks or even months earlier; it becomes visible 3–4 months after the trigger. Shedding noticed right after a shampoo change is usually down to another cause. Harsh cleansers, however, can dry out and sensitise the scalp, which is why a gentle formula matters.
How is a prebiotic shampoo different from a regular one?
+
A regular shampoo cleans your hair and scalp. A prebiotic shampoo cleans while also supporting the balance of the scalp microbiome. Many common concerns, such as dandruff, itching and oiliness, have been linked to a shift in this balance.
What is the scalp microbiome?
+
Just like the skin, the scalp is home to a community of bacteria and yeasts. Its dominant members are Cutibacterium, Staphylococcus and Malassezia. When this community is in balance, the scalp feels calm and comfortable.
What causes dandruff, and is it contagious?
+
Dandruff results from a combination of scalp yeast breaking down sebum, a weakened barrier and individual sensitivity. On a scalp with dandruff, the microbiome balance shifts. It is not contagious.
Why does my scalp itch?
+
The most common causes are harsh cleansers, very hot water, sensitivity to hair dye and fragrance, dryness and stress. The scalp is skin too; when its barrier weakens, it becomes sensitive. 89% of people with a sensitive scalp report itching.
Why does my hair get oily so fast? Is washing every day harmful?
+
Sebum production varies with hormones, genetics and the season. In a controlled study, satisfaction was highest with 5–6 washes a week, and daily washing did not damage the hair shaft. What matters is that the shampoo is gentle.
Is there a difference between women’s and men’s shampoo?
+
It is the same prebiotic formula. Women’s and men’s scalp concerns can differ: sensitivity, dryness and seasonal shedding come up more often for women; oiliness and dandruff for men. In both cases, the prebiotic formula supports the balance of the scalp.
Can it be used on coloured or chemically treated hair?
+
Yes. It contains no alcohol, parabens or SLS/SLES, and its pH 5.5-compatible formula helps leave the hair shaft smoother.
Is it suitable for a sensitive scalp?
+
Yes. It is made with gentle cleansers, is suitable for sensitive scalps too, and can be used every day.
What’s inside?
+
A prebiotic formula, coconut oil, glycerin and gentle cleansers. It contains no alcohol, parabens or SLS/SLES. Made by Efor Bioteknoloji.
How do I use it?
+
Apply to wet hair and work into a lather, massaging the scalp with your fingertips. Leave the lather on your scalp for 1–2 minutes. Rinse thoroughly; repeat if needed. You can use it every day.
When will I see results?
+
You’ll feel clean and refreshed from the very first wash. In studies of microbiome-focused shampoos, changes in visible flaking were measured after 4 weeks of regular use. Because the hair cycle is long, regular use is key to the overall look of your hair.
